Residents campaigning to save a historic wooden bridge on the New South Wales Far South Coast have welcomed a $15-million commitment from the state's opposition to restore it if they're elected on March 25.
Designed more than 130 years ago, Cuttagee Bridge is situated on the Tathra to Bermagui Road and is an important road link providing access to the Sapphire Coast.
In 2021, the state government announced additional funding to replace wooden bridges with concrete ones along the NSW coast to improve safety and community connection, under its $500-million Fixing Country Bridges program.
